1st Prize
SiHyun Uhm, The Juilliard School
Circus Suite (clarinet, violin, cello, piano)

SiHyun Uhm is a composer, pianist, and multimedia producer currently based in New York and South Korea. Her works have been commissioned by US AirForce Academy Band, YAMAHA, Rice University(Sviatoslav Richter Fund), Columbia Digital Audio Festival, Josun Palace Hotel Pilates Series, and Enhak? Ensemble. She is a Composer Fellow with American Composers Orchestra, Really Spicy Opera, Nashville Symphony Composer Lab, Universal Artists Festival, Daegu MBC Orchestra, Intimacy of Creativity, Red Note Workshop, has received prizes from JMI, Korean Wind Ensemble, Pyeong Chang Olympic Celebration, Howard Hanson Orchestral Prize, Louis Lane Prize, Leopold Auer, Future Symphony, NY Composers’ Circle, Next Notes, National YoungArts, Golden Key Festival, Avalon, and MTNA. She is currently attending The Juilliard School studying with Prof. Beaser and she graduated from the Eastman School of Music in NY, studying with Ricardo Zohn-Muldoon, David Liptak, Carlos Sanchez-Gutierrez, and Vincent Lenti. She graduated from Walnut Hill School for the Arts in MA, where she studied composition with Whitman Brown and piano with Mana Tokuno from New England Conservatory.



2nd Prize
Robert McIntyre, University of Melbourne (MCM)
"See Through Me" (violin, cello, piano)

Described as ‘strikingly contemporary’ (Limelight), Robert McIntyre (he/him) is an emerging Australian composer who draws from personal experiences, nature and important causes as potential frameworks, in order to create an atmosphere of discussion and reflection. So far, he has been commissioned by and/or collaborated with Divisi Chamber Singers (Compose Queer Initiative), Australian Youth Orchestra, VYSO, Melbourne Saxophone, Syzygy Ensemble, Trio Immersio (ICEBERG Institute), Collide Trio, the University of Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and more. More recently he co-won the 2022 KCND International Art Song Competition and has been selected for the 2022 Composing in the Wilderness cohort.

Robert holds a BH-MUS(Honours) in Music Composition from the University of Melbourne (MCM), having learnt under Stuart Greenbaum, Katy Abbott, Elliott Gyger, Miriama Young, Caerwen Martin and Melody Eötvös across his studies. He is currently working for composer Dr. Katy Abbott in digital-content marketing and studying his Juris Doctor at the Melbourne Law School.

3rd Prize
Willie Cornish, Jr., Furman University
Surréalisme (guitar)

Willie Cornish Jr. (b. 2000) is a horn player and composer from Fort Mill, SC. His catalog includes works for choir, voice and piano, organ, and various ensembles that include brass, woodwinds, percussion, and strings. Many of Willie’s compositions have been recognized locally and nationally. In 2021, his composition, “Maria,” wasawarded 2nd place in the 2020-2021 Metropolitan Youth Orchestra Emerging Composers Competition. Outside of music, He is president of Furman’s Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. Willie is a horn student under Prof. Anneka Zhuelke and studies composition under Jay Bocook and Mark Kilstofte.
